About Me
Hi! My name is Elina,
I’m a photographer.
My name is Elina and I am an academically trained professional photographer with experience working in different countries. I studied photography in Jerusalem in the early 2000s, at the very time when digital photography was just being discovered. I was fortunate enough to create magic myself by developing and printing BW and color images. I was learning to use different camera formats as well as studying Photoshop.
Studio, reportage, subject, advertising, and architectural photography. We were trained to be broad specialists. Then came exhibitions in Israel followed by grants. After graduation, I worked in reportage photography, then returned to St. Petersburg and started fresh. My work was shown at local galleries and exhibitions. I had the chance to collaborate with interesting artists as well as people from the world of performance arts (theater and cinema). Thanks to my family, I began to develop myself as a photographer in studio photography and wedding photography.
Wherever I am in the world, my camera is always with me. “A picture is worth a thousand words” -Frederick R. Barnard.
Recently my family and I moved to Alberta. We moved here from Ontario, where I had the opportunity to shoot a lot of family portrait photography. I never stop admiring the beauty of people and nature. In recent years, I have discovered family reportage (lifestyle) photography and fell in love with it. It is a style of photography where you don’t need to take the right pose, pretend to be someone you are not, and get all nervous.
In my photographs, you get to be yourself and witness your inner beauty and light. Photography is painting with light, which means my childhood dream has come true.
